Year 6 began their STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) Week with an egg-citing challenge creating an anti-grenade!
Using limited resources, they were asked to construct a device that would allow an uncooked egg to remain intact after being thrown from a classroom window.
Today, a child in Year 6 was awarded the ‘Annual Young Achiever Award’ from the Rotary Club of Newton-le-Willows.
This special award is given for ‘Service Above Self’ and the recipient couldn’t have deserved it more!
Katie – we are so proud of you!
Last week we created many amazing contraptions, one of which was called the ‘Marble Maze Game’. It was a thrilling experience that we all enjoyed and we were all really happy with our results (as you can see from the photographs).
Throughout the lessons, we made a hydraulic system, in addition to some stunning and eye-catching walls for our marble mazes.
When we manoeuvre our system, it rotates our invention, moving the marble around the walls. Eventually the marble should reach the end of the maze.
Thank you to Mr Bradley for working with us on this great Design Technology project.
