After the half term break, Y6 will be working hard towards their ESB (English Speaking Board) Junior Medallion Award. For this, the children will prepare and present three different elements: a presentation on a subject of their choice, recite and perform a poem, as well as reading a section from their favourite book. It will be great to see what the class come up with for this – there will definitely be a variety of themes!
We will continue our topic work on ‘The Mayans’ and look at ‘Ideas About God’ in our RE lessons.
Also, we will be rehearsing for our end of year production – what a busy end to the year in Y6!
In Spanish Club today the children cooked paella. They all had a go at chopping and adding ingrediants. Everyone said it was delicious!
In our English lessons we will continue to read ‘Foul Play’ by Tom Palmer and will also be looking at performance poetry which should be fun!
We will dig deeper into our Mayan topic, discovering all about Mayan calendars as well as their buildings.
As part of our topic, we have all created our own Mayan sun stones in our art lessons.
We will share the finished designs once we have competed them, but we all think they look great so far!
We had doughnuts and fun in the sun to celebrate the end of SATs.
As you know, next week Year 6 children will be taking their SATs. All children must be in school every day and on time.
Please ensure your child has plenty of early nights this weekend and all next week.
Children can arrive at school from 8.25am onwards, and we will provide them with a small snack before they take the tests.
This afternoon we joined in with the STEM events taking place in school.
Our favourite activity was Crime Scene Investigation.
