English – writing balanced arguments regarding whether zoos should exist.
Topic – reflecting on our fantastic camping trip and our learning about the elements.
We are all looking forward to our camping trip to Delamere Forest where we will discover more about the elements for our topic work.
Maths- we will be carrying out problem solving activities involving addition and subtraction.
English- the children will be completing their explanation texts they have started this week.
Don’t forget the children are spending Friday at Golborne High School.
The children took part in a variety of problem solving activities. We were really impressed with their level of communication and understanding.
We used dark, milk and white chocolate to help us understand how the different types of rock were formed, including sedimentary, metamorphic and igneous rock.
In our topic work we will be investigating the properties and uses of a range of rocks and minerals. We will also be looking at how different rocks were formed.
The focus for our English work will be writing a range of explanations.
The children will be practicing their methods of addition and subtraction in maths. They need to be confident with column addition and subtraction, including using decimals.
Don’t forget that all homework is due back by Wednesday. Children can return it sooner if they wish.
Below I have listed what the children will be focussing on in English, maths and topic work next week. We would love it if you are able to spend time with your child this weekend exploring some of these themes and skills.
Maths – reading and writing Roman numerals up to 1000. Ordering and solving problems using negative numbers.
English – instruction writing using Epic Citadel as a stimulus.
Topic – identifying key facts about the countries within the UK, including capital cities, mountain ranges, rivers, landscapes, landmarks and opportunities for tourism.
