Year 6 had a wonderful day at Chester Zoo today. The children looked at different types of animal habitats, and read up on some of the endangered species that are protected.
What was particularly impressive was the way the children looked critically at how the animals were looked after; they checked that the environment and behaviours were as close as possible to how it would be in the wild.

I invite you all, young (below y5) and old (year 5 & 6), to take this writing challenge.
Do you think your family could inspire others with their writing too? Get an adult you know to complete the writing challenge!
Look carefully at the image, think about what it could be, why this setting is like that, what could be happening?
If you can, try to use as many of these 5 sentence structures as possible.
Well done to all of you who completed the writing challenge straight away, check out who has read your work! Alan Peat!
For those of you who don’t know, Alan Peat is a top writing expert, who comes up with lots of clever ways to teach writing. He wrote the sentence types we use in school.
